This is a real eye-catcher - a very rare, early flat-top Parker 75 Sterling Silver Cisele ballpoint pen, with the thick gold fill at 1/20 14K gold (that is, 5% by weight 14K gold). It can be dated early 1960s by the barrel stamp design. This pen probably dates from c. 1963, after which less thick gold fill on silver, and then vermeil (gold plate on silver), followed. In very fine used condition, clicker / ballpoint refill fully working, this is a real classic and a statement Cisele.

I believe its full name is: Parker 75 Insignia Cisele. As described above, there are watered-down versions in subsequent years (with less gold fill, vermeil gold plate and watch out also for gold fill / plate on a steel body).

None are as high quality as these earliest sterling silver + thick gold fill. The condition of the pen is very good - no dents, damage or dings to the pen body, only two detectable small marks to the stacked-coin cap top and a couple of small marks to the gold filled pen tip (see photos). No show-through or wear on the gold anywhere - even on the edges - which is just as you would expect with such a thick layer.

The pen top / tassie is the original flat / polished design, which was phased out in 1970. The cap band is stamped to show it is the earliest version: "PARKER" and STERLING & 1/20 14K G. " That lettering is unique to the first editions - thereafter they read "STERLING & 14K G.

This pen, with the 1/20 14K gold fill, means that 5% of the pen's case is 14K gold - the rest is sterling silver. The vintage Parker 75 case is stamped to the base with "BOX No 111" and MADE IN U. The box is in good condition, clean velvet to the interior and some exterior wear, but it is a quality case - heavy and working well. In addition, the pen comes with a working "fine" size black refill, plus a vintage blue spare, and a non-original copy of a Parker 75 certificate from the 1960s. Width (max, across cap): 0.9cm.

Width (max, across barrel): 0.8cm.
