Parker Premier MkI Gold Plated Barleycorn grain d'orge rollerball pen + refill

  
This is a relatively rare and beautiful example of the short lived Parker Premier range, in gold plated barleycorn / grain d'orge pattern. The range lasted only 9 years, from 1983 - 1992. This is an early MkI version of the rollerball, and is accompanied by its original refill - branded then a "rollerball / floating ball". It is identifiable as an early version as the gold pen cone is seated in black, the later versions do not have a black line between the gold tipped section and the cone.

The refill is working well and generously. No damage, dents, gouges or dings.

The two stunning Premier features are both in excellent condition. The faceted cap band, tassie and pen top are bright and light-catching.

The two black onyx ends - the cap and the top - are both in glossy, unscratched condition. I think there is some light dot-blooming to the pattern in places - it just isn't quite as bright and shiny in a couple of places.

Two other imperfections: there is a little brassing to the nib cone (see photos) and there is some slight play in the cap, when in position on the pen. It does not move when shaken, but when pulled, there is a little play. The section is clean and glossy - the finger grips are clean and unworn.

The screw-top of the section carries a code which I cannot decode - M19316 and separately, the number 4. This beautiful pen is a pleasure to work and is very balanced in the hand.
