In 19881989 Montblanc started putting W-Germany on the clip which lasted only for couple of years. It was the last year when Montblanc used the two-tone 14k nibs, last year of plastic threaded pistons and also the last year of split ebonite Feed to be used before discontinuing them permanently After that from 1990s Montblanc removed the "W" from W. Germany and started putting 7 digit serials on the clip, started Tri-Tone 18k Nibs and also started the modern plastic feed which still continue.
